Jardin Majorelle

Rue Yves St Laurent, Marrakech 40090, Morocco
DateSunday, Sep 6, 20263:00-4:30pm

Jardin Majorelle is a vivid sanctuary in the heart of Marrakech where art, nature, and design converge. First envisioned in the 1920s by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later lovingly restored by Yves Saint Laurent, this 2.5-acre botanical garden is a masterpiece of contrast and calm.

Cobalt blue buildings (coined Majorelle Blue) rise beside bamboo groves and tranquil lily ponds, while over 300 species of exotic plants offer a sensory journey through global flora.

Alongside the garden, the Berber Museum and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum deepen the story, celebrating heritage, creativity, and style.

With insight from Claire and the Muse Marrakech InStyle team, Jardin Majorelle becomes more than a beautiful destination; it becomes a study in proportion, palette, and the dialogue between Moroccan tradition and modernist elegance. Its spirit echoes throughout Muse Marrakech InStyle, where design is not just seen, but deeply felt.

Step Inside a Living Legacy at Muse Marrakech

Discover Marrakech through a local's eye, with Muse Marrakech Shopping Retreat.

Wander the courtyards of the Bahia Palace, where colourful zellige and carved cedar ceilings showcase centuries of Moroccan craftsmanship. Stand among the sunlit ruins of El Badi Palace, once a jewel of Saadian architecture, now a powerful reminder of Morocco’s regal past. These are the originals whose influence is seen across Europe and the world over.

It's easy to draw inspiration from these historic wonders; every archway, tile, and texture in our retreat reflects the soul of the city.

Thoughtfully designed spaces invite you to slow down, appreciate the details, and connect deeply with local culture.

During the tour, you will enjoy snacks and tastes from local vendors and time to have a tea stop along the way.

Bahia Palace: A Masterpiece of Moroccan Splendour

Step into the heart of 19th-century Marrakech at the Bahia Palace, an enduring testament to Moroccan artistry and ambition. Built to showcase the height of beauty and prestige, this architectural jewel reveals the finest in zellige tilework, hand-carved stucco, and painted cedar ceilings. As you wander through its 150 rooms and peaceful courtyards, you’ll follow the footsteps of a powerful vizier and glimpse the opulence once reserved for Morocco’s elite.

With thoughtful insights from Claire and the Muse Marrakech InStyle team, the palace becomes more than a historical site it becomes a study in design, craft, and cultural influence. Their perspective reveals how Bahia’s intricate details and grand vision continue to inspire the aesthetics and philosophy behind Muse Marrakech today.

El Badi Palace: Echoes of Lost Grandeur

Once known as “The Incomparable,” El Badi Palace now stands in majestic ruin, an awe-inspiring echo of Marrakech’s golden age. Commissioned in the 16th century by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, this vast complex was once adorned with gold, marble, and rare materials sourced from across the globe. Today, its sunken gardens, crumbling ramparts, and expansive courtyards invite reflection on a legacy of power, ambition, and ephemeral splendour.

With design context and storytelling from Claire and the Muse Marrakech team, these weathered stones reveal more than faded glory; they become a source of inspiration. Their insights highlight how the raw textures, bold scale, and dramatic contrasts of El Badi continue to inform the layered aesthetic of Muse Marrakech. It’s a living dialogue between past magnificence and present creativity.
